Responding to a brief that involved listening to the shipping forecast and creating a response. I used the aspect of morse code and the fact that the broadcast was a code and a language that i didn't understand.
Morse Code was also involved as an aspect of an effective means of communication amongst people traveling by sea. From this bit of wood i then played with the aspect of the shadows it created and using the piece of wood as a sculpture, a kind of sun dial that is also an effective and older means of communication.
The morse code, carved out in the wood says 'visibility' which was a word used often in the shipping forecast, and also linking back to the idea of shadows, and what can be actually be seen through the wood.
